How to Care

Caring for the natural beauty of your New York Vanity cabinets means proper maintenance.

Regular Dusting.

Use a lint free cloth for regular dusting. Do not use pre moistened dusting sheets (they may damage your finish.)

Cleaning

Wipe the surfaces with a clean, damp cloth, then dry immediately. To remove general soil or grease, a mixture of a mild soap and warm water can be used. Take a cloth and dampen it with the solution. Dry thoroughly.

Waxing and polishing

Waxing is not recommended. Wax build up is difficult to remove and will leave a residue that attracts dust. The use of aerosol or liquid furniture polishes or cleaners is not recommended. If polishing is desired, then a small amount of lemon oil applied to a clean, dry, cloth may be applied to the finish.

Don’ts

Avoid harsh chemicals such as bleach and Amonia. Solvent based or petroleum based products such as nail polish remover or paint thinner. Abrasive products such as steel wool or tub cleaners.

Part of proper maintenance is knowing some common household enemies to avoid. Here's how to prevent damage from these problem areas:

Water,

When left unattended, water can cause white spots and haziness to the finish and even damage the wood itself. Do not hang wet towels over the cabinets. Always remove excess liquid promptly.

Direct Sunlight

When possible draw curtains or blinds during the sunniest part of the day. Exposure to direct sunlight darkens natural wood and lightens or fades painted and thermofoil surfaces.
